Re-using high block: preserved units as youth creative studio

What if we could reuse units in high block as transitional studios scheme for young people? The existing typical unit size of 259 sq feet is ideal for them to combine their living and working spaces—creating a transformative environment to pursue their dreams. In return, these young residents could contribute to the estate by providing social services to elderly residents in need. This reuse of heritage creates an exchange between the two groups, preserving the sense of community in Choi Hung Estate.

Idea 2

Re-using low block: preserved units as elderly caring homes

What if we could reuse units in low block as elderly care homes scheme for residents facing difficulties in relocation? Renovation typically takes less time and can be carried out with minimal disruption. Housing the elderly in the same building while providing specialised facilities could reduce the negative impact caused during the redevelopment construction. Additionally, transforming the repurposed carpark into a community hall could serve as a hub to connect the elderly with the rest of the community.
